Walkabout Nova Scotia

WRCA became involved with Nova Scotia Heart&Stroke Foundation new initiative Walkabout Nova Scotia in 2012.  Three community residence, volunteered to become Walkabout Leaders for the White Rock area.

Over the past six years, WRCA has supported and provided opportunities for our community people to be active.  We have hosted many Walkabout events at the hall, all well attended.  (Take a look at our Facebook Page for activities regarding).

The trail has been incorporated into WRCA commitment to facilitate, encourage and assist community member in adopting and practicing exercise in their daily lives.

In 2015 WRCA was awarded a grant from Walkabout Nova Scotia.  Two beautiful benches were purchased for placement at the trail heads.  Places to change your shoes, wait for a friend or gear up for activities.  Signage supporting the principals and practices of Walkabout has been placed in signage around the trail.  A great reminder and incentive for participants that their active transport models, (walking, cycling, running) are activities that they will directly benefit from.  Relaxation, increase energy, mood enhancer,  endurance, strengthening, balancing, well-being…and so much more are only a walk away.  It really is…
